Teen Murders Girlfriend, Then Has Sex With Corpse
BOULDER, Colo. — The 18-year-old Broomfield man accused in the slaying of a 13-year-old girl admitted to several friends that he killed her, according to evidence laid out in a preliminary hearing Wednesday in Boulder.
Alexander Paul Pacheco is charged with first-degree murder in the October 2008 slaying of Kelsey Shannon. Her badly decomposed remains were found in a Broomfield drainage ditch last January.
An autopsy determined that Kelsey died as a result of “homicidal violence.”
According to testimony in Pacheco’s preliminary hearing, he told a friend he strangled Shannon “until her eyes rolled back in her head.” He then stabbed her in the throat multiple times to make sure she was dead.
Also revealed in court Wednesday: Pacheco admitted to a friend that he had sex with the corpse afterward until the body turned cold. He faces an additional charge of abuse of a corpse, based on that admission.
A friend of Pacheco told police that Pacheco took him to the area where he had dumped the body and said he wanted to retrieve a condom that he used after killing Kelsey. The friend told police that Pacheco also showed a lock of hair he kept in a tissue that he said belonged to Kelsey.
Pacheco visited the body several times in a watery marsh, according to police. Pacheco may have tried moving it with a sled to better hide it and also debated putting in a barrel filled with soda and bleach in the hopes it would eat away at the body. He said he could smash the teeth and spread them over Colorado so police couldn’t identify the remains through dental records.
Additional testimony revealed that Pacheco and Kelsey were a couple and that the two had sex during the relationship. On Oct. 14, Kelsey told her parents that she was going to go for a walk, after she and her parents had a disagreement about Kelsey’s relationship with Pacheco. She never returned home and was reported as a runaway.
Pacheco also told friends he wouldn’t get caught because she had written a “runaway” note.
The preliminary hearing is the first time evidence against Pacheco has been revealed. District Judge John E. Popovich will decide if there is enough evidence for Pacheco to stand trial.
Pacheco has been held without bond since his arrest three days after Kelsey’s body was discovered.

I went to middle school with Kelsey I was a grade older. I didn’t know her but i remember how bubbly and likable. It’s been awhile since hey found her body but I still always think about it. I breaks my heart that sweet little girl had so much going for her. If i could go back in time i would. My prayers go out to her family and friends.
Rest in peace sweet girl
As a parent of a teen daughter let me explain my disgust.
If a 13 year old has fight with me she is sent to her room and that’s it.
If I don’t approve of her boyfriend that’s it, and I’ll go as far as a restraining order to prove it.
Parents to lenient with their kid’s experience sad things with them. This family obviously had the incite to judge the character of this way over the age young man, then why didn’t they call the cops and report his ass or make a point to have a child advocate from the school or plenty of resources out their have a talk with him and do all the things a parent should do.
Let me give you a great example :
My kid 14 years old, finds Mexican National boyfriend. I say OK the rules are the rules I need to meet the parents I need to meet the boy before you can date him and your never going to date him unchaperoned until your 17 years of age that simple .So for some reason I Cant seem to meet the parents when I finally do the boy only has a mother, I meet the boy he looks a lot older than his age I tell him I want to see a birth certificate and State ID with a number.
He could not provide either so I tell him to hit the road and dont come back I call the school notify them about him and provide a picture, I call the cop’s and tell them the same and please keep a record of the call, and then I go down to the court house and request two things a no trespass and a restraining order. I then find a Spanish to English interpreter and have her call the boy’s mother explaining to her what my intentions are and she explains to my interpreter that he son is not 14 years of age he is actually 22 years old. I then have the interpreter tell him that the police better find him before I do. Week later he is back in Mexico with his father and a month later his mom splits to.
Moral of the story..YOU HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS WITH YOUR KID’S…they make mistakes that can very easily cost them their lives, you also need to not let others and their beliefs change the way you discipline or raise your children. I’m raising three daughters all by my self they all are very smart when it comes to boys and out open communication about them is what keeps them safe, they don’t regret my standards they thank me and the boy’s who do pass the quality control test last longer, are strong and confident young men who deserve to date my daughters because they have no fear to face me and my rules.
Wait till I break the news to my daughters that after 18 their boyfriends will have to provide a background check….gotta do what you have to do these day’s if you want them alive at 25.
